Meiji Period (1868-1912)
Heavily cast sentoku bronze, the body with a sinuous finely chased gold three-clawed dragon against a chestnut brown ground of clouds and crashing waves, the domed cover decorated with golden bosses and topped by a double-dragon finial, all above a border of conjoined stylized lotus petals, the underside signed by the workshop Inoue of Kyoto.
