A Chinese Red Ground Embroidered Silk Manchu Lady's Informal Robe, Changyi, Late 19th Century

Late 19th Century
The robe is embroidered in satin stitch on the front and back panels with peony blossoms among shou medallions sewn in gold-wrapped thread. The silk cuffs decorated with butterlies and floral sprigs against a black silk ground.
Height 53 in., 134.6 cm.
Property from the University of Arizona Museum of Art, sold to benefit the acquisitions and collections care fund.
