Lot Description

A Chinese Gold and Ruby Inset Ruyi-Shape Hair Ornament, Zan, Qing Dynasty
清 滇式嵌寶鏤空花卉紋如意金簪
Southwest China, Yunan, Dai People, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912)

In the form of a ruyi-scepter, the large hollow ruyi head centered with an open-worked floral panel filled with a large flower head above a winged bird bordered with further floral sprays, the detachable s-shaped shaft decorated with a further reticulated floral panel on both ends, the upper section cast with two flower heads each inset with a ruby stone.
