FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH of Das Kapital, overseen by Engels and translated by Samuel Moore and Marx's son-in-law Edward Aveling. This edition only contains book I. Although Engels had already published the German edition of Volume II in 1885, he states in the preface, that a translation of it without volume III would be incomplete; the German edition of volume III did not appear until 1894.
