FIRST STATE of Janssons's map, based on de Laet's map of 1630, which was the first map to name Manhattan ("Manbattes") and New Amsterdam. Covering a larger area, Jansson's map includes part of the great lakes ("Grand Lac" and "Lac des Yroquois") as well as an unnamed Lake Champlain. Burden I 247.
