Lot Description
An English Ceramic Charger, Charles Ferdinand Hurten (1820-1901),
of circular form with a gilt rim, painted in impasto to show roses and dense foliage before a cloudy sky, signed C F Hurten.
Diameter 16 1/8 inches.
Footnote:
Charles Ferdinand Hurten's paintings on porcelain at the 1858 Paris Exhibition eventually led him to employ with the Copeland manufactory at Stoke-on-Trent. He was renowned as a painter of fruits and flowers, and was commissioned for works at the London International Exhibition of 1862 as well as the grand drawing room at Chatsworth House.
