ROMAN SARCOPHAGUS CORNER 2nd-3rd Century AD

Carved marble, the corner of a sarcophagus, with a theatre mask on either side with open mouth, large eyes and deeply drilled pupils; the face framed on either side with two long cork screw curls descending from beneath an oriental cap. Raised on a bespoke mount.

H: 13 in. (mounted).
