Cut-out silhouette against a view of the Philadelphia Waterworks and Schuylkill River.

George Spackman Downing was the son of Quakers Mary Spackman (1772-1847) and Thomas R. Downing (1773-1818).

Provenance: Property of a Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania estate
